Make Bastille Day a Hit with Flowers & French Macaroons

Description:

A Delicious Take On The French Connection

In France, the streets are filling with garlands of flowers, people are filling the streets with flags, and the cities are preparing their fireworks stashes. Tomorrow, the French celebrate Bastille Day, their equivalent to our Independence Day.

Bastille Day is a monumental day in history that celebrates the victory of the French Revolution over the monarchy. Whether or not you are a Francophile, remember that the democratic values that our founding fathers wrote into the Constitution were directly connected to French thinking. Thomas Jefferson himself was an avid Francophile. Plus, the French were crucial in our own military success when American won its independence on July 4, 1776, just a few years before the storming of the Bastille.

Whether or not you have a special French connection, Bastille Day offers an excuse to open a bottle of champagne, slice up a tasty baguette, a delight in the finer things in life. If you’re looking for a reason to celebrate, add in some treats and Parisian-inspired floral delights to add that special je ne sais quoi.

Nothing says “Oui!” better than lavender – and our Heaven Scent bouquet will stimulate your sense with lush, layered petals of lavender, lilies, roses, and hydrangea. The soft, delicate lavender fragrance is a favorite in the land-of-400-cheeses. Much of the central and southern countryside is painted purple with lavender plants during the spring and summer. Lavender is also a relaxing plant to have around – traditional French families keep a dried sprig of the flower next to the bed to promote calm.

Hydrangeas are a favorite flower among the French. Stroll through any French country garden, and you’re bound to see hydrangea growing in window boxes or along trellises. The floral team at Allen’s Flower Market is also obsessed with hydrangeas of all colors. Our ecstatic Cirque du Soleil bouquet features eye-catching blue and emerald green hydrangea among gentle snapdragons and spicy orange roses.

Are you familiar with van Gogh’s Irises? The painter was inspired by fields of gorgeous indigo and yellow irises that dot the French countryside. Bring irises into your Bastille Day celebrations with our Vibrant Bliss arrangement, artfully designed in a stylish glass cube with orchids, tulips, and lilies.

No celebration of French culture would be complete without dessert. Our fresh-baked French Macaroon box comes with either 6 or 12 pieces in a variety of tempting flavors. Macaroons are a French delicacy that creates lines around the quartier at patisseries and dessert shops. Indulge! Add a box to your flower order to make this Bastille Day a delight for all of the senses.
