Allen’s Flower Market Celebrates Earth Day!

Description:

Tap Into Nature’s Most Beautiful Creations This Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day from the team at Allen’s Flower Market! This year, Earth Day will be recognized on Friday, April 22. Everyone has a different way of tapping into nature – for us, we love nothing more than breathing in the fresh air and filling our senses with stunning flowers.

Earth Day keeps us mindful of how interconnected our lives are with the natural world. Our ability to live in harmony with plants, trees, bodies of water, animals, preserved land is essential to our health and happiness. Earth Day serves as a welcome reminder that we need to care for the planet and stay informed about how to best support the natural world to preserve its beauty and resources for future generations.

Creative Ways To Celebrate Earth Day 2022

There are so many practices we can all implement to increase our awareness of issues impacting the earth. Earth Day might introduce you to a new hobby or unleash your inner volunteer for a day. Here are some fun ways to celebrate this year:

  • Take a bike ride. Whether you’re dabbling in commuting to work by bicycle, working up a sweat, or simply enjoying a pleasure cruise in the sunshine, swapping a car trip for a bike ride is a great way to feel the elements and get moving.
  • Pick out re-usable gear. Re-usable tote bags and refillable water bottles will help cut down on plastic waste. Plus, it’s handy to have something to sip on hand.
  • For many people, Earth Day is a day to pick up and properly dispose of litter or address pollution in the air, soil, and water. Head over to a local park or beach, and you’re bound to find people volunteering to clean up litter.
  • Plant something. There is truly no better day to get your hands dirty and lay seeds or seedlings in some soil. If you plan carefully, you might enjoy the spoils of tomatoes, herbs, peppers, and other garden staples planted in Spring. Or try native planting flowering plants and watch butterflies and hummingbirds flock to your yard.
  • Head to the farmer’s market. Find seasonal foods and meet the people who are feeding your community.

Where Earth Day Comes From

The first-ever Earth Day celebration took place on April 22, 1970, when 20 million Americans expressed their support for planet-saving measures and kickstarted an era of awareness and care for the natural world that carries on to the present day. This Earth Day is the 52nd Anniversary of the event.

It is no accident that Earth Day falls during the heart of the Spring when planting is on many peoples’ minds, and it becomes easy to spend more time outdoors. Earth Day is often observed by communities conducting neighborhood projects to make their spaces greener and more sustainable.

Celebrate Earth Day At Home with Flowers

Looking for an earthy way to celebrate Earth Day from the comfort of your own home? Make it extra special with flowers! Try our Spring Extravaganza, a multicolored beauty with bold colors and lush textures. Or, for something more understated, the refined Ranunculus Hidden Fields features muted delicate Ranunculus, cymbidium orchids, and eucalyptus greens. For a long-term indoor reminder of nature’s beauty, consider one of our potted flower plants, such as our Pink Azaleas, in a terra cotta pot. No matter how you choose to celebrate, Earth Day is a moment to express gratitude for the abundance of natural resources and bounty we receive from the planet every day.
