The first-ever Earth Day celebration took place on April 22, 1970, at the height of the first environmentalist movement in the United States. This Earth Day is the 51st Anniversary of the event. The theme that comes with this year’s Earth Day is “Restore Our Earth,” which brings the focus to projects like tree-planting, re-forestation, land stabilizing, and disaster prevention. The vision behind this theme draws on global interconnectedness and the restoration of healthy soil, water, and animal habitats to provide a stable environment where people can safely live, work, and play for many generations to come.
