What’s Blooming This Month?

Description:

We Love Flowers that Thrive in Warm Weather

Nature is always in motion – and the seasons are constantly showing us their shifting colors, fragrances, temperatures, and feelings. Plants, trees, and flowers are a beautiful part of this constant transformation. Even now, in the dog days of summer, there are several flowers that are known to thrive. These flowers have adaptations that enable them to withstand high temperatures and sun exposure. Here are some examples of flowers that generally do well in hot weather:

Alstroemerias

These show-stoppers, also known as Peruvian Lilies, have sturdy stems and delicate markings on their orange-cream petals. Alstroemerias are long-lasting and can withstand warm temperatures, making them suitable for summer bouquets. See how they capture the essence of summer in our Floral Dream arrangement.

Begonias

These striking flowers bloom into pillowy, delicate folds of petals that appear in multiple colors and textures. August is the perfect time for Begonias because it falls directly in the middle of their growing season. We love how Begonias look in our joyful Blooming Basket Garden, where we pair them with Kalanchoe and textural African Violets to create a high-impact gift or decorative accent.

Dahlias

Like Begonias, August is prime time for the gorgeous Dahlia. Gardeners and florists adore this prismatic bloom – many consider it the most attractive, popular flower. Dahlias grow in almost every color, and their flower heads can grow up to a foot in diameter in the right environment. We’re in love with the soft salmon-hued Dahlias in our Peachy bouquet, where these queen blooms are nestled among other premium flowers such as ranunculus, gerbera daisies, and green ball dianthus.

Lisianthus

The textured, rose-like blooms of the Lisianthus flower make an excellent addition to colorful, tall-standing arrangements. Lisianthus are available in various colors, including pastels and deeper shades. These flowers have a long vase life and can add an elegant touch to summer bouquets. We love how they complement the lilies and hot pink roses in our Heaven Scent bouquet.

Sunflowers

As their name suggests, sunflowers love the sun. They are heat-loving flowers that can withstand sunshine and thrive in hot climates. Their large, cheerful blooms make them popular for summer events and gifts. If you want to bring the sunshine with you wherever you go, show up with a bouquet such as our 50 Sunflowers in hand.
